Project Description:
Fully automated complete filling and packaging system for 35-55 pound cardboard cases, as well as 1500 and 1616 pound super-sacks, including integral case erector equipment, bag insertion equipment, bag de-cuffing equipment, and a case taper, and all of the associated conveyors.
Features
System consisted of (1) two-door main line control enclosure with a G&L Digital MMC 2-axis servo with integral controller and Turck distributed I/O and (1) operator control station with Xycom GP2500 touchscreen, comprising the main control system. Also part of the control system is (1) two-door main control enclosure with associated Turck distributed I/O, (2) operator control stations, and (2) Weightronix E1070 weighscales, that comprise the case fill module controls, as well as (1) two-door main control enclosure with associated Turck distributed I/O, (1) operator control station, and (2) Weightronix E1070 weighscales, that comprise the super-sack module controls. The G&L controller communicates with the (3) distributed I/O chassis, (4) Weightronix E1070 weighscales, and the (1) Xycom touchscreen via an ethernet Cat5 network.
Challenge No. 1:
The capability of filling 35 pound boxes at a rate of 7 cases per minute(15000 pounds of product) per hour at an accuracy of +/- 0.25 pound.
Solution No. 1:
A tightly integrated system, centered around the G&L controller, able to quickly digest weight information and take decisive action via (1) servo operated fill gate for each of two case filling line.
Challenge No.2:
The capability of utilizing (1) control system to operate both the case fill module and the super-sack filling module, which are mutually interchangeable and portable.
Solution No. 2:
To install and engineer all quick-disconnect bulkheads for power, e-stop, and communication to each for the filling module control enclosures.
